On 21 August 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) hosted a major distribution exercise in observance of World Humanitarian Day at its Food Bank warehouse in Ikeja through the Food Bank Network Nigeria (FBNN) initiative, extending food assistance to vulnerable communities beyond LFBI’s direct reach.

The distribution brought together 40 credible nonprofit organizations from Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, providing them with essential food items to support their respective feeding and community outreach programs.

The food supplies included generous donations from Simpli Delicious, CWAY Group and Ekulo Group, whose contributions are helping transform surplus and donated food into meaningful support for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Through the FBNN model, LFBI works with credible nonprofit organizations to strengthen the collective response to hunger by enabling food to reach communities where local organizations are already providing support.

For the beneficiary organizations, the distribution represents more than food items, it provides resources to expand their reach, support more vulnerable households and strengthen food security within the communities they serve.

This collaborative approach demonstrates the power of partnership and shared responsibility in tackling hunger. By connecting donors, food banks and community-based organizations, more food can reach more people who need it.
