On the 17th of April 2024, Lagos Food Bank Initiative extended its reach in the ongoing National Food Distribution Program to resilient families living in Ajegunle Community, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA to mitigate the impact of increasing living expenses.

Given the recent economic challenges nationwide, the problem of food insecurity has been persistent, affecting the underserved communities the most. In response to this, the Aliko Dangote Foundation partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative to distribute bags of rice to struggling families for their sustenance.

The outreach was a huge success, as a large number of vulnerable people expressed their delight upon receiving their package with a good number of food bank volunteers also present, to ensure a seamless distribution process. The timely outreach ensured the sustenance of families living below the poverty line, giving hope to those most in need of assistance.

The National Food Distribution Program is an initiative of the Aliko Dangote Foundation that aims to provide bags of rice to a million households nationwide. “This gesture of profound kindness will always be remembered by the direct and indirect beneficiaries of the distribution, and they will forever be grateful,” said by the Founder/Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola before the commencement of the outreach.
