On September 26th 2024, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative collaborated with Afriex to distribute nutritious meals to food-insecure children in low-cost schools through the EDUFOOD program – an initiative committed to keep more children in school with utmost concentration and cognitive performance by providing adequate nutrition. This partnership highlights a shared commitment to addressing the pressing issue of child hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria.
The arrival of the EDUFOOD team reignited hope among children in beneficiary schools, as they anticipated enjoyable mealtime experiences. During the outreach, the Afriex team visited classrooms, where they received a warm welcome from pupils. The children were served hot meals and the atmosphere was filled with excitement as the pupils enjoyed their meals together, highlighting the program’s positive impact on their learning experience.
During a brief testimonial at the event, a member of the Afriex team expressed their commitment to community support, stating, “there is so much we can do for the community, and we look forward to more collaborations with Lagos Food Bank to support more school children.” Through initiatives like the EDUFOOD program, partnerships between organizations like Lagos Food Bank and Afriex can create lasting change.
The outreach saw a large turnout of volunteers, an indication that young people are willing to make a difference with the right support. Similarly, activities like this pave the way for a healthier, more educated generation, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
