“There is no doubt in my mind that if we have organizations like the Lagos Food Bank Initiative in every state of the country, many people wouldn’t be facing food insecurity as they presently are,” was the words of Engr. Victor Adediji, the Managing Director of ADVAD Limited during his speech at the outreach venue in Oworonshoki Community, Lagos.

Taking place on the 26th of November 2024, Lagos Food Bank teamed up with ADVAD Limited to provide food relief, decent clothing and personal care items to women and families residing in Oworonshoki Community, a pivotal geographical location in Lagos state as it connects the Mainland and Island areas of Lagos via the Third Mainland Bridge.

As a way of marking their 15th anniversary in the energy sector, the partner organization participated in the activities of the day with utmost optimism, packaging some of the food boxes that were distributed after going on a tour of the food bank facility.

Addressing attendees of the outreach, the Founder and Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner organization for their generosity to cater to needy households amidst the economic hardship, highlighting the importance of corporate organization’s involvement in community development projects. He also appreciated the volunteers who showed up in numbers to support the food bank’s mission; zero-hunger society for all.

“I am very happy for this support shown to me and other women in this community, with this our families have enough to eat for the rest of the week and the next. Things have not been easy since the beginning of the year, and it has only been getting worse. My prayer is that God will continue to bless and provide for those behind this program that has made us all smile today,” said a beneficiary of the distribution during her testimonial video with the food bank media team.

With the recent findings that revealed two-third of households are forced to skip at least one meal daily due to food insecurity, this timely outreach proved to be a beacon of hope to families in underserved communities, showing the transformative impact that partnerships can create in changing the narrative of hunger and malnutrition nationwide.
