On September 19th 2024, Lagos Food Bank partnered with Garment Care Limited to reach out to school children through the Education Enhancement Intervention for Food Insecure Students (EDUFOOD) program in celebration of Garment Care Limited’s 25th anniversary. The school feeding program is an initiative that seeks to improve school attendance rates and cognitive performance by providing nutritious meals to food insecure pupils in low-cost schools.
On this day, children received nutritious cooked meals, writing materials and items that will promote personal hygiene during school hours. The event demonstrated the commitment of partners to impact communities positively and paints a picture that economically disadvantaged children can equitably get the necessary support they need to excel at school and beyond.
Speaking to attendees of the program, a representative of Garment Care Limited said; “this is my first time experiencing this type of activity,” adding that individuals and organizations who show community responsibility can leverage on the expertise of NGOs like Lagos Food Bank Initiative to instill hope in school children to ensure their full potential is achieved.
The high turnout of volunteers was also an indication that many young people are keen on impacting communities through community-driven projects that promote development and general well-being. The outreach was a remarkable success and the partner of the day appreciated the food bank for a successful partnership and a well-organized distribution.
