“Helping humanity is something I enjoy doing, and that is why I am happy to be a part of the work of the Lagos Food Bank. This organization is doing amazingly well to impact less privileged families by standing by them to provide their basic needs as they face economic challenges, and I am here to also stand by them. In playing my own part to create a better place for people to live in, I am willing to support the mission of Lagos Food Bank in any way possible,” said Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known by his stage name, Spyro, during his impactful collaboration with Lagos Food Bank Initiative.

Serving as beacon of hope to vulnerable families in underserved communities, this partnership nourished and empowered women and families as they converged at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, on the 18th of November 2024, to receive food boxes put together by the food bank and their partner of the day.

Going home with a sum of fifty thousand naira each, the partner’s act of benevolence aligned with the message in his recently released song, “Stand By You,” a song that will be remembered by every beneficiary of the distribution, having been empowered towards resilience, to ease the effect of the harsh economic conditions in recent times.

Giving a testimonial to the food bank’s media team, a beneficiary from Makoko Community, Mrs. Lawal, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the food bank team and their partner for the care and support shown to her and other women who were scheduled for the distribution. “Coming here today has really made me happy, I was called to come and collect food, after registering about a month ago, and now that I have food for me and my family, I will also be going home with plenty of money in my account. May God continue to bless and provide for the people behind this program and for everyone who is in support of what they are doing.”

The Founder and Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner of the day for his profound generosity and commitment to helping those most in need of care and support, presenting him with a Certificate of Public Good to encourage his philanthropic acts, and to reaffirm his contributions to the development of communities.

Also in attendance of the outreach were the food bank volunteers who showed up in numbers to show unwavering support for the mission and vision of the organization, which is a hunger-free society for all. With a database of over 26,000 registered volunteers, Lagos Food Bank Initiative continues to impact underserved communities across Lagos State and beyond.
