On 28th December, 2024, Tonic Technologies (CardTonic) partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative through its school feeding program – EDUFOOD, to take the holiday vibe and cheer to Oko Agon in Yaba, Lagos State, a community known for its challenges but filled with hope – home to a large population of children with promising future. This outreach was to mark the season with a joyful Christmas celebration, reminding the children that they are loved and cared for, and honoring their resilience in the pursuit of quality education.

This memorable event was made possible through the partnership between Lagos Food Bank and Tonic Technologies (Cardtonic), a leading financial technology company in Nigeria. Their collaboration highlights how corporations can team up with nonprofits to create meaningful change in communities by dedicating resources to sustainable programs like EDUFOOD.

Over 700 children happily gathered to experience the excitement of Christmas, greeted by Santa Claus, who handed out nutritious meals to ensure everyone enjoyed the festivities. Laughter filled the air with dancing competitions, face painting among other activities, while the children’s pride shone through as they recited the Nigerian National Anthem, showcasing their identity as true compatriots.

As the day came to an end, parents expressed their sincere gratitude for Lagos Food Bank’s efforts—not just for this event but for their ongoing commitment to the community. The organization has become a household name, known for consistently uplifting families in need. This outreach was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful reminder of the difference dedicated organizations and volunteers can make both in our communities and in the lives of children.
