On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) welcomed KPMG Nigeria for the second time through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) at its warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja. Guided by KPMG’s CSR Prosperity Pillar, the outreach focused on supporting widows in underserved communities, many of whom continue to face financial hardship and food insecurity following the loss of a spouse.

Demonstrating its commitment to purpose-driven employee engagement, KPMG mobilised a strong team of staff volunteers who stepped away from their professional responsibilities to serve alongside LFBI volunteers. Together, they packaged and distributed nutritious food boxes, bringing practical food relief to widows. The team also toured the Food Bank’s facilities, gaining first-hand insight into the operations and systems that enable LFBI to reach millions of households across Lagos.

Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, Dr. Michael Sunbola, welcomed Mr. Tola Adeyemi, CEO of KPMG One Africa, and members of the KPMG team, expressing appreciation for the firm’s continued partnership. He noted that sustained corporate collaborations play a vital role in expanding food assistance to underserved communities and creating lasting impact.

Speaking during the outreach, Mr. Tola Adeyemi reaffirmed KPMG’s commitment to advancing social impact through its CSR Prosperity Pillar. He emphasised that access to nutritious food is the foundation for healthy individuals and thriving communities, noting that education, productivity, and prosperity can only flourish when people are adequately nourished. He also commended the dedication of KPMG employees who volunteered their time, while acknowledging the commitment of the Lagos Food Bank staff, volunteers, and the visionary leadership driving the organisation’s mission. Reaffirming KPMG’s confidence in the initiative, he expressed pride in supporting the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s vision of building food-secure communities.

For the beneficiaries, the outreach delivered far more than food assistance. The smiles, heartfelt expressions of gratitude, and renewed sense of dignity reflected the impact that purposeful partnerships can have on the lives of those who need them most.

As KPMG and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative marked their second collaboration, the outreach reinforced a shared commitment to addressing hunger through sustained corporate action. By aligning resources, employee volunteerism, and a common purpose, the partnership continues to demonstrate how business can be a force for good, improving lives while strengthening communities across Lagos.
