The Lagos Food Bank in partnership with the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Nigeria is set to provide nutrition and food relief assistance to sustain fasting Muslim families living in Idimu community through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) on Tuesday 26th March, 2024 with a special Ramadan Iftar program.

Lagos Food Bank since inception has reached 2.4 million vulnerable families across 160 low-income communities with a volunteer strength of over 24,000 volunteers transforming lives by fighting malnutrition and hunger through nutrition focused programs which seeks to improve the nutrition/food intake of widows, diet-related disease patients,  pregnant women and their infants; and students in public primary and secondary schools.  Also focusing on reducing food waste and organising entrepreneurship training and job placement programs that help beneficiaries become more self-reliant.

GOAL

Through this partnership with the Lagos Food Bank, is set to mitigate the effects of the high food prices by providing food relief and iftar to the fasting muslims who have little to no access to safe and nutritious meals that will sustain them for 2 to 4 weeks.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide nutritious meals and food items to vulnerable fasting muslims
  • To improve the overall well-being and health of Muslim beneficiaries, 
  • To provide support during the Ramadan fasting period enabling them to divert already limited funds for more important use.
