On Wednesday 19th June 2024, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative will reach out to empower its Family Farming beneficiaries in partnership with Mavin Record with agricultural materials inclusive of poultry, snail and vegetable starter kits to fight hunger and promote food and financial security through the establishment of their backyard farms.
This outreach is in celebration of Mavin Records award winning artiste Ayra Starr on the occasion of her birthday. The beneficiaries of the day will also receive food boxes of hope filled with food relief and personal care items to sustain a family of 5 for 4 weeks alongside their backyard farm materials.
Goal:
To empower women and youth with a sustainable source of income thereby promoting food and financial security among women and youth living within vulnerable communities.
Objective:
- To create a sustainable alternative source of food which makes access to fresh and healthy food easy and affordable.
- To reduce the prevalence of poverty by promoting financial stability by equipping the beneficiaries with agricultural materials to start their backyard farms
- To improve the livelihood of the program’s beneficiaries and their families.
Distribution Items:
The items to be distributed include the following:
- Vegetable Starter Kits (Quality vegetable seeds, Organic Manure and Kegs)
- Poultry Starter Kits (Chickens, Cage, Feeds, Drinker, Feeder, Antibiotics and Multivitamin)
- Snail Starter Kit (Snails, Feed, Cage)
