Children are typically vibrant and full of energy. To sustain these physical and cognitive energy, they need adequate nutrition. Children who are well nourished are on track to achieving academic excellence. However, those in low-income communities are often challenged with lack of nutritious meals that can fuel their body and minds due to household food insecurity which results in high drop-out rates and low academic performance.
Lagos Food Bank Initiative is actively engaged in closing the food and nutrition gap through its EDUFOOD program to ensure a brighter future for children which will translate into more resilient communities and a reduction in poverty. To this effect, the food bank will be partnering with Garment Care on Thursday 19th September, 2024, to mark their 25th anniversary by providing nutritious meals to food insecure school children. This demonstrates Lagos Food Bank’s dedication to improve child education through increased school attendance and concentration in the classroom, as well as the commitment of key stakeholders in the society to positively impact communities.
