On Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd of August 2024, the Family Farming program of Lagos Food Bank Initiative will have a two day comprehensive training for women and youths at the food bank warehouse in preparation to equip them with the necessary skills and resources to kickstart their backyard farms. This program is in partnership with UPS Foundation.
The UPS Foundation’s philanthropic approach centers on four focus areas: health & humanitarian relief, equity and economic empowerment, local engagement and planet protection.
This training is an interactive theoretical and practical demonstration of urban farming practices where the beneficiaries will learn about Vegetable production (Olericulture), Snail production (Heliculture), Poultry production and Agribusiness entrepreneurship.
Objectives of the Training:
- To equip the participants with the knowledge and understanding of sustainable farming practices.
- To reduce the prevalence of poverty among women and youth.
- To promote food and financial security through urban farming.
