We’re pleased to announce that the Lagos Food Bank Initiative will be hosting its annual Walkathon Fundraiser which is a 12 kilometers walk scheduled to hold on Saturday, 27th of August 2022 with starting point at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan at 7am prompt.
The theme for the awareness walk fundraiser is: “Feed the Future 4.0” as it is aimed at raising funds that will be instrumental to creating more impact with the school feeding program; Education Enhancement intervention for Food Insecure Students (EDUFOOD) of Lagos Food Bank Initiative.
Our journey so far..
- The Edufood program is presently feeding over 3000 students through 20 schools
- Our students are fed thrice a week; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Volunteers have contributed over 5000 volunteering hours
- Provided over 60,000 meals
- Received sponsorship/donations from over 10 brands since inception
Walkathon Route:
The start point of the charity walk is at Tafawa Balewa Square, Ikoyi to Bourdillon Road and back to Tafawa Balewa Square to officially end the Awareness walk.
Objectives:
We are walking to raise awareness about the menace of hunger and malnutrition among school children.
We are walking because we want to raise more funds to scale our school feeding program
We are walking to increase school attendance through food security in low cost schools.
We are walking to reduce dropout rates, develop the student’s health, and increase their ability to comprehend in class.
We are walking to raise awareness about the importance of school feeding programs for low cost schools.
With side attractions like Music, Dance, Comedy, Celebrity Appearance, and an opportunity for volunteers and guests to network and have maximum fun while raising funds for the Edufood project.
