On March 22, 2025, the Bariga community of Lagos came alive with hope as the GloWorld partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative for a remarkable outreach event. The pressing need to alleviate food insecurity served as a powerful catalyst, drawing together compassionate individuals united by a common purpose.

A palpable sense of anticipation filled the air as over 1500 beneficiaries awaited the arrival of the Food Bank, their spirits elated by past experiences with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative. Known and cherished in the community, the Food Bank’s outreaches had become synonymous with support and sustenance, culminating in a gracious welcome for everyone involved.

Upon entering the community, the partner, volunteers and staffs took the uplifting Lagos Food Bank pledge that symbolized their unwavering commitment to community service. This pledge served as a reminder of their collective strength, boosting morale and reinforcing the importance of the day’s mission. Dr. Michael Sunbola, Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank, thanked everyone at the event and emphasized the organization’s commitment to driving lasting change through effective mobilization and coordination of programs that seek to improve the quality of life for families and communities alike. 

As the day unfolded, smiles spread across the faces of the beneficiaries, who received not just food items that could sustain their families for weeks but also clothing materials. The joy in their eyes was a testament to the positive impact of the initiative, a step forward in the ongoing fight against food insecurity.
