On May 30th, 2025, Rex Mafiana Foundation partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to bring smiles, nourishment, and meaningful experiences to children in the Agege community in celebration of Children’s Day.

The event served a dual purpose. First, it provided the children with their regular nutritious school meal through the EDUFOOD School Feeding Program: an initiative aimed at improving school attendance and learning outcomes. Second, it created a festive atmosphere to mark Children’s Day, making the day extra special for the young learners. Together, these efforts culminated in a joyful and memorable experience for the children, one filled with nourishment, fun, and connection.

The event went beyond food. Activities such as creative arts, games, face painting, dancing competition, and an interactive question-and-answer session not only entertained but also encouraged self-expression and learning in a fun environment. Volunteers and our partner actively engaged with the children, creating a warm and inclusive space where every child felt seen, valued, and supported.

Each child left the event with a gift bag filled with consumables and writing materials. This reiterated commitment to their well-being and education. One of the most inspiring aspects of the event was the spirit of collaboration. As Cynthia Ogu, Program Coordinator at Rex Mafiana Foundation, shared:

“When like-minded non-profit organizations unite with a common goal, the impact is amplified.” This event demonstrated that investing in both nutrition and education is not only necessary but a powerful for development. It ensures that children are not only fed but also inspired, encouraged, and equipped for a brighter future.
