23rd of October, 2026, was a memorable day for beneficiaries of the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) as they gathered at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse in Ikeja for a World Food Day intervention, to ease the burden of food insecurity on economically disadvantaged households from underserved communities.
Made possible through a recurring partnership with Access Bank Plc. and Lagos Food Bank Initiative, this corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity marked the conclusion of the Food Bank’s week-long campaign for the global day of observance, World Food Day, a day set aside to celebrate food as a human right, while identifying and improving the gaps in existing food systems for the purpose of equitable access to adequate food and nutrition for all.
Rebecca Kazeem, the Administrative Officer of Access Bank Plc, expressed her delight for yet another successful partnership with the Food Bank, a journey that dates far back to 2022. She reinstated their commitment to supporting communities, and highlighted the importance of their long-standing partnership with the Food Bank as a strategy to impact lives in underserved communities. To round up her brief during the outreach program, she appreciated her team members who came in numbers as corporate volunteers for the outreach, and also acknowledged the solidarity shown by the Food Bank volunteers who were also present for the outreach.
Mr. Oyedapo, a visually impaired father of three from Oshodi community, expressed heartfelt gratitude as one of the beneficiaries of the day’s distribution. Highlighting the significance of the support received as a lifeline in difficult times. He appreciated the Food Bank and their partner for the timely support. Other beneficiaries expressed their gratitude in the form of prayers and showed genuine excitement upon receiving their food items.
The outreach was a resounding success, rounding up the impactful campaign for World Food Day, a reminder that lasting change does happen when organizations come together with a shared purpose.
