A birthday becomes even more meaningful when your joy extends to others.
This was the spirit of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as Nigerian content creator Bukola Rufai partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) for a special Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) outreach at the Food Bank’s warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, ahead of her birthday on September 25.
Rather than marking the occasion with a conventional celebration, Bukola spent the day supporting families experiencing food insecurity. She joined the LFBI team and volunteers in packaging food boxes for resilient women and households, actively participating in the work behind the food support that would reach families in need.
Her involvement made the outreach a personal part of her birthday celebration. She did not simply support the intervention from a distance, but spent time at the warehouse working alongside the volunteers and contributing directly to the preparation of the food boxes.
LFBI appreciated Bukola for choosing to use her birthday as an opportunity to support families through TEFAP. Her partnership provided an avenue to combine a personal milestone with practical support for households facing challenges accessing sufficient food.
